Laura in Paris Day Two

Standard

On day two of Laura’s trip to Paris, we went to the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, Christmas Markets, Angelina’s, Longchamp, and went out to dinner with Fr. Benedict from Saint A’s! It was a fabulous day.

We took the stairs up the Eiffel Tower, it was about 700 steps out of the total 1,700. You can only walk to the second floor.  It is cheaper to walk up, and it has always been on my bucket list.

Despite there being a “no visibility” warning, Laura and I took the elevator to the top. All of the sudden, we went into the cloud that seemed to be cutting off the Eiffel Tower.  At the top, you really couldn’t see anything. It was really cool to be all of the way at the top. At the top of the Eiffel Tower, there is a comparison of the tallest buildings in other countries in comparison to the Eiffel Tower. One good thing about not being able to see was that there was nearly no line to take the elevator up.

Also at the top of La Tour Eiffel was an apartment of Gustave Eiffel. He once even met with Thomas Edison up there.

By the Eiffel Tower are the Buddy Bears. There is a bear for every country. They were all so cute and creative. Laura is posed with the Spain one. I posed with the France Buddy Bear, we posed with the USA bear and then of course we posed with the United Buddy Bears.

We then had to take the infamous touristy pics with the Eiffel Tower. They are pretty funny looking back at them.

We quickly made our way to the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysées before meeting up with Sarah for the famous Angelina’s.

The famous Mont Blanc

There are a few things that are cheaper in Paris than in the United States, one of those things being Longchamp bags. Longchamp bags are from France and it is one of the few things in the fashion world that is cheaper here. Laura, a loyal Longchamp customer, had been eyeing a Longchamp backpack. Her lucky day, she happened to be in Paris. Elle a eu la chance!

Before meeting up with Father Benedict for dinner, we walked through the Christmas markets by the Champs Elysées. There were many vendors, food tents, a skating rink, and Christmas music playing throughout. It was a good thing we were going to meet Fr. Benedict for dinner, otherwise we would have bought lots of food at the Christmas market.

For dinner we met up with Father Benedict who is on sabbatical this semester in Paris. He takes classes at the Catho, just like me. He knows multiple languages, and is fluent in French. It was weird being with a monk and Laura both from Saint A’s, but in Paris…

Day two was very busy, we were impressed with ourselves at how much we were accomplishing.
